Kilmelford to Kilchoan
An early start for Oban ensured that the main road was not too busy and my arrival at the ferry terminal afforded just enough time to buy a ticket to Mull and to wheel the bike to the queue of foot passengers.
The Coffee Pot at Salen, about half way to the port of Tobermory, was a natural place for a coffee stop and then eating a meal including seaweed chutney plus replenishment of picnic foods at the usual stores-cum-cafe was carried out as planned.
The 1pm ferry to Kilchoan was convenient and allowed an early finish at the campsite to rest and prepare for a proposed big day on Tuesday. There was plenty of time to wash and dry clothes and even to catch up with some world news. Time can pass quickly after a walk through the gate to the shore and while admiring the view and looking for the otters to the sound of the waves hitting the rocks. An early night and with refreshing sleep was to follow.
