Cameron’s First Birthday Celebration
This event, with music in the Broadford Market Square to mark the first birthday of the son of Rona and Salvatori, was my pull to return so soon to Skye. It did not disappoint; musicians including Ann, Colin, Donald, Duncan, Iseabail, Kevin and Susan played between them, among other instruments, accordian, bodhran, button accordian, fiddle, flute, guitar and uilleann pipes. There was, of course, singing as well.
Sound clips were recorded and you can try a short sample below. A photo of the birthday boy with his parents appears in the foreword and is reproduced here above some musicians.

In the morning a breakfast at The Market Kitchen was followed by the last visit to Fiona, who stored some gear that I will not need until next time in Broadford. Fiona helps me meet relatives, knowing their movements and my plans (which are subject to change). Lap 3 outward is planned to be from Dumfries to Broadford via Inverliethen, Dalgetty Bay, Crieff, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, Daviot, Inverness and Fort William. Cousin Ola lives her with husband Iain in Drumnadrochit and meeting them could be tricky.
I had intended to try the chowder at the seafood shack but Fiona tempted me with her tasty bean soup. (At home, beans always form part of my lunch and I have them with cheese and either bulgar wheat, quinoa or buckwheat).
Before the music was a chance to catch up with cousin Ann and Donald, who had enjoyed a stay at Rosemarkie in their campervan. They told me about visiting cousin Herbert in his up-market care home earlier in the year. His mobility is not good, but he is allowed to continue to host wine tastings for his friends.
