Silver Sands (Aberdour) to Kinross
Camping at Silver Sands went well again, with the sound of waves breaking on the shore useful for promoting sleep. With a unisex toilet, urinal and water supply close by it may just about be described as "wild camping".
The visit to the care home was enjoyable, hearing for example about how well the staff were able to use the available medication and about the possibility of improved drugs before too long.
The wind speed this afternoon was variable. When it whipped up and howled in the wires it was difficult to keep the bike moving straight even when walking with it! Several miles of the route were on wide dedicated cycle paths which provided safe cycling conditions even with very strong gusts. Probably a couple of miles in total were spent walking with the bike as a safety measure.
Pitching the tent at Gallowhill Caravan and Camping Park on this day of amber wind warnings was surprisingly easy because of the remarkable sheltering. The Camper’s Bothy with tables and chairs, kettle, microwave and spare sockets for charging devices is a welcome addition since my stay here years ago.
Today’s stats make this almost a recovery day: 23 miles with 2100 feet of climbing and 870 active calories.
