Dumfries to Innerleithen via Moffat
Sitting here in the Traquair Arms at Innerleithen with a coffee and after having pitched my tent at the campsite, there is much to be grateful for.
There has been excellent weather for cycling with lots of sunshine and a cooling breeze. The skyline was always sharp and the clouds added to the views. It always surprises me that the car traffic is so light on the A701 scenic route to Edinburgh taking in the Grey Mare’s Tail. Today there was lots of noise from the many motorbikes.
At Moffat the coffee from Ariete was excellent again, confirming its justification as a regular cafe for this route.
The stats for today were 55 miles with 3000 feet of ascent and 1779 active calories. After such a long period since the last lap this was an encouraging start to Lap 5.
