Lap 3 R&R Days 1 – 8

Lap 3 R&R and Preparation for Lap 4

This period was very similar to the period between Laps 2 and 3, with the aim of letting the body recover while keeping some cycling “ticking over”. The opportunity was taken to explore the innards of WordPress, the software used for this travelogue. It is open-source and hugely complex with a mixture of computer languages in use and designed with customisation in mind. Over 60000 plugins are available! Less taxing for spending time at home, test-match commentaries were as entertaining as ever with an exceptional match to start the England-India series.

Andrew Grant at DG2 Wheels has inspected the bike and replaced disks and carried out other servicing, which has engendered peace of mind. For Lap 4, mostly in July, there will be an attempt to reduce the weight of luggage by relying on lighter, quick drying, items of kit and using several layers for warmth if and when necessary.
