Day 3 of Lap 3

Silversands Bay at Aberdour to Scone via Dalgety Bay

The destination was Scone campsite by the Perth racecourse (with the help of a local farmer whose house the route passed closely by) via Dalgety Bay.

It was great to have over 2 hours with Muriel with her medication working well. She was doing some walking with her zimmer frame. Any hip operation would mean doing without her current Alzheimer’s pills.

A relative of Muriel’s surname Nigdam (Netherlands) worked for Shell and now has a big yacht and is trying to get accepted for the America’s Cup.

Most of the first few miles of the cycle to Perth was on good paths by the roadside. The last few miles I cycled with Andrew from Braintree doing a tough version of Lands End to John O’ Groats alone. He is booked into hotels and hostels so if he has an especially tiring day he has to grin and bear it rather than opt for a shorter day. He had interesting accounts of events he has taken part in.

From Perth to Scone was exceptional, starting with a long riverside path passing close to a golf course. There was a short fiddly bit before a lot of excellent new bike paths including alongside a new road bridge and leading all the way to this campsite.

There are seven WiFi masts here and free charging of devices in this room with seating for about 20. The site they allocated to me is sheltered and close to amenities.
