Day 10 of Lap 3

Trip from East Daviot to Tornagrain

Part 1
Own roasted coffee at Hillhead Cafe in new town of Tornagrain near Inverness Airport is just to my taste and menu looks very modern and with healthy options. Staff welcoming and pleasant atmosphere in the cafe. Excellent vegan breakfast, with several different foods all tasting delicious.

Stopped at campsite en route to enquire. It would have saved most of the steep ascents but costs double so out of the reckoning for me. Saw tent at the Clava Cairns yesterday and there must be plenty of wild camping sites worth it to save £20+ but not to save £10 with in addition to perfect pitch an equipped kitchen, marvellous showers, free device charging and personable owners showing an interest at Auchnahillin.

Part 2
Back at campsite with much struggling against 50 mph gusts, some on the main Aberdeen to Inverness road with starting left strip usable by cyclists then petering out. I should have backtracked on quiet roads with slower moving traffic giving a wide berth to cyclists. Easier day but still 868 active calories, finishing 800 feet above sea level. Some heavy showers but overall mostly dry with some bright sunshine and substantial wind-chill. Forecast for region in IPaper was “breezy”.
