Balquhidder Station to Inver via Crieff
Waking to sunshine this morning (my smart watch recording a rare three hours of deep sleep), a hot shower in a warm cubicle and wearing bone-dry clean kit all contributed to a feeling of wellbeing.
The minor road to the south of Loch Earn was almost free of traffic so the woods and views of the loch with its beaches could be admired fully. The dearth of traffic continued on the resurfaced scenic main road to Comrie, where a breakfast in Café Comrie was enjoyed.
In Crieff, my cousin with dementia not only smiled a lot but also laughed in the right places. Most of her contributions were "yes" and "no", (with her husband talking for both of them). Just before my departure, to my astonishment, a couple of apt phrases slipped in.
The remaining hilly 22 miles to Inver (near Dunkeld) were scenic, with no hilltops obscured by mist or cloud, and some sunshine added to the effect of the landscape. At some points wind seemed to be magnified, perhaps by channelling, as noticed previously.
Here at the campsite the phone is nearly recharged in the utility room and it is time to hang out the washing. The sound of the River Braan should aid the relaxation before sleep.
