Kinross to Dunkeld via Crieff
Visiting in Crieff went well, seeing four relatives altogether and hearing for example about the farming and diversification amongst their families. As usual there were also conversations about health including coping with infirmities and prescribed medication that can be counter-productive.
The weather for the cycling was mixed, with a little rain and some blue skies and sunshine. On the high ground between Crieff and Dunkeld some wind gusts were very strong but not quite bad enough to make me walk. One fallen tree almost blocked the road. The blooming heather added to the views. The highlight of today’s cycling was the long hill down Glen Eagles. A low point was the degraded road surface on parts of the A91. Today’s stats were 51 miles with 1700 feet ascent and 1150 active calories.
The tent is now pitched not far from the river at the Invermill Farm Caravan Site. Hopefully it will be too windy for the midges remembered from a stay here many years ago. A satisfying evening meal followed a tip-off that the Perth Arms Hotel in Dunkeld served reasonably priced good food.
